Men's Lax Downs St. Mary's, 16-10

SALEM, Va. --- Roanoke College defeated St. Mary's, 16-10 in men's lacrosse action this afternoon at Kerr Stadium. The Maroons improved to 6-0 while the Seahawks dropped to 1-2.
The Maroons, who are off to their best start since the 1979 season, ended their streak of five-straight 20-goal games which is a school-record. The Men are now 8-1 against the Seahawks, including the last three meetings.
Roanoke held a 57-39 shot advantage, 33-21 in shots on goal. The Maroons won 18-of-28 face-offs, led by Greg Khanzadian (13-of-17) and were successful in 22-of-28 clear attempts.
The Maroons pulled away early, scoring six of the first seven goals of the game. Just two minutes into the second period, Trey Keeley's unassisted goal made it 7-1 with 12:55 remaining the half.
Khanzadian led Roanoke defensively with eight groundballs. Brian Foley had six while Stephen Simmons and Sam Love each finished with five.
Keeley's three goals and one assist paced Roanoke while Matt Quinton had two goals and an assist.
St. Mary's was led by Ryan Alexander with two goals and Dennis Rosson with a goal and three assists.
Jake Dorsey had 15 saves in goal for the Maroons while Pat Simpson finished with 17 saves for the Seahawks.
The men have a week off before traveling to Dickinson on March 14. The Maroons are 3-1 against the Red Devils, including 14-8 win at home last season. The only loss came in 2007 with an 11-10 overtime loss. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
