Roanoke Men's Lacrosse Ranked Third in USILA Div. III Top-20 Poll

Roanoke men's lacrosse jumped one spot with a #3 ranking in the latest USILA Div. III Top-20 Poll announced this afternoon. The Maroons are 9-0 on the season and defeated then #8 Cabrini, 16-13 last weekend.
Salisbury (9-0), the defending national champions, are ranked atop the poll with Stevenson (MD) (8-0), ranked second behind the Maroons. Ithaca (6-0) defeated then-#2 SUNY-Cortland last weekend to move up to fourth and Endicott (6-0) rounds out the top-five.
Other Roanoke opponents in the rankings is ODAC-rival, Washington & Lee (8-0) holding down the sixth spot while Lynchburg (4-3) falls to 16th after the Hornets fell to Stevenson, 12-10. Cabrini slipped down seven spots to 15th with a 4-3 mark. Greensboro received a vote in the latest LaxPower.com national poll.
The Maroons, ranked third in the laxpower.com poll, are ranked fourth nationally in scoring offense, scoring margin, points per game and assists per game. The men are also third in NCAA Div. III in groundballs per game.
Roanokeis led by Matt Quinton with 34 goals and nine assists (43 pts). The Canada native is ranked among the top-30 nationally in points (27th) and goals per game (22nd). Quinton is followed by senior captain Zach Thomas, who has 18 goals and 14 assists for 32 points. He is the school's sixth all-time leading scorer with 209 career points. Jake Dorsey has 90 saves to his credit in goal this season and is ranked 10th all-time at Roanoke with 376 stops. Justin Tuma leads the Maroons in groundballs with 57 and is second in face-offs won (56-of-88). Greg Khanzadian is nationally-ranked in face-off win percentage at 68.6% (83-of-121) and has collected 51 groundballs.
The men will host Williams this Wednesday, March 25 at Kerr Stadium in non-conference action. It will be the fourth first-time opponent on the 2009 schedule as the Maroons have won those games by a combined score of 74-13 against York (Pa.), Birmingham-Southern and Richard Stockton. Game time is set for 3:30 p.m.
