Men's and Women's Lacrosse Earn NCAA Tournament Berths

Roanoke College men's and women's lacrosse teams made the NCAA Tournament Field announced Sunday night. It was the first time since the 2007 season that both teams made the tournament. Both teams have accumulated a combined 32 wins, which is arguably the most successful year for Roanoke lacrosse.
The women (15-4, 8-0 ODAC) earned an automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament with an 11-9 win over Washington & Lee to claim the ODAC Championship. It was the first ODAC Title for the Maroons since 1999 as they dethroned the six-time defending conference champions. The 15 wins heading into the post-season is the most in a season since posting a school-record 18 wins in 1990.
Roanoke, currently ranked #17 in the IWLCA Div. III Top-20 poll, will host Cabrini (12-4) in the first round on May 6 at Kerr Stadium at 7 p.m. The winner will take on Gettysburg (14-3), who received a first-round bye on Saturday, May 9 at 2:30 p.m.
The men (17-1, 6-0 ODAC) ended their perfect season and an automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament as they fell in overtime to Washington & Lee, 15-14 in the ODAC Championship game. Roanoke, the #1 team in the nation (USILA Div. III) over the past three weeks, earned an at-large bid as the #2 overall seed and a first-round bye. It was the first at-large bid for the program since 2005.
The Maroons will host the winner of the Ohio Wesleyan/Denison game on May 9 at 1 p.m. in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The winner will advance to the NCAA Quarterfinals on May 13.
