SALEM, Va. --- #8 Roanoke rebounded from this weekend's loss in a big way, downing #14 Lynchburg, 15-7 Wednesday evening at Kerr Stadium. The Maroons improved to 9-2 overall, 3-0 in the ODAC. The Hornets dropped its record to 6-4, 1-1 in conference play.

With the win, the Maroons are now 30-6 all-time against its ODAC-rival, claiming five of the last six meetings. It's the first win for Roanoke against a team with red colors on their home turf since 2008. It's also the eighth time this season the defense has held their opponent to under 10 goals. They held opponents under that mark only seven times in all of last season.

Pat March (Glen Burnie, MD, Mt. St. Joseph)led the Maroons with a season-high five goals and two assists. He moved up two spots to sixth on the all-time scoring list (214pts). Justin Tuma (Bloomfield Hills, MI, Lahser)was a force this evening, winning 8-of-12 face-offs, collected six groundballs, scored two goals and dished out a career-high four assists.

Roanoke performed well the contest, winning the groundball war, 42-29, and in shots attempted (45-26). The big stat of the night was the Maroons going 3-for-3 in man-up opportunities.

Lynchburg reeled off three quick goals in the first 10 minutes of action to take a seemingly commanding 3-0 lead. But then the Maroons went on a 6-0 run that poured into the second quarter as they took a 6-3 lead with 8:15 remaining. The Hornets scored just before the half to cut it to within two, 6-4, heading into the second half.

Roanoke scored three-straight goals to open the second stanza before the Hornets added two goals to make it, 9-6 with 10:14 remaining in the third.

That was as close as Lynchburg would get as the Maroons offense continued to thrive, scoring six of the final seven goals to end the game and earn their ninth win of the season.

Noah Gibby (Terrace Park, OH, Mariemont)also netted a career-best four goals on the night, while Matt Quinton (Elora, Ontario, Canada, Kitchener Braves)and Jeff Keating (Chatham, NJ, Chatham)scored two goals each. Trey Keeley (Lancaster, PA, Conestaga Valley High School)added two assists.

Defensively, Stephen Simmons (West Friendship, MD, Mt. St. Joseph)collected six groundballs, followed by Alex Burkhead (Winston-Salem, NC, Forsyth Country Day)with five and Sam Love (Berwyn Heights, MD, Dematha)picking up four on the evening.

Jake Dorsey (Woodbine, MD, Mt. St. Joseph)finished with seven saves on the night for the Maroons. Franc Cook totaled 12 stops for the Hornets.

Max Voumard had two goals to lead Lynchburg. Joseph Lisicky collected five groundballs, followed by teammate Ethan Farrell with four.

The Maroons will travel to Virginia Beach this weekend to take on ODAC-foe Virginia Wesleyan on Saturday afternoon. Game time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
