Jeff Keating Named ODAC Player of the Week for Men's Lacrosse
Sophomore Jeff Keating (Chatham, NJ, Chatham)was named ODAC Player of the Week announced Monday afternoon. It is the second time in his career and the fourth Maroon to receive the weekly honor.
Keating scored five goals and dished out seven assists in two ODAC contests last week, leading Roanoke to victories over Guilford and Randolph-Macon. He scored a goal and dished out a career-best six assists in a 31-3 triumph over the Quakers last Wednesday. In the season-finale against the Yellow Jackets, the New Jersey native led the Maroons with four goals and an assist in the 19-8 win.
For the season, Keating is posting 20 goals and 20 assists (second on the team) for 40 points, which is fourth on the team. 29 of his 54 shots this season have been on goal while collecting 13 groundballs and scoring four man-up goals this spring.
Roanoke, ranked #7 in the USILA Top-20 Poll, finished the regular season with a 14-2 mark. It is the fifth time over the last six years the Maroons have won at least 14 games or more. They are 31-4 over the last two seasons, which only four schools in the country can post a better winning percentage. The 7-0 ODAC record is the best in conference history, as they are the first team to win seven ODAC games with Randolph added to the conference last season in men's lacrosse. It is the 17th ODAC regular season championship for Roanoke, including the 16th time they finished unbeaten in conference play.
The Maroons will await their opponent in the ODAC Semifinals, as they receive a first-round bye. That game will be held on May 2 at Kerr Stadium. A game time has yet to be determined.
