Men's Lacrosse Remains Seventh in USILA Top-20 Poll
Roanoke remained in the #7 slot for the third-straight week in the USILA Div. III Top-20 Poll announced Monday evening. The Maroons have been ranked in the top-10 all-season and every week over the last two seasons.
The Maroons, which clinched its 17th regular season ODAC Title with an ODAC-record 7-0 mark, finished the regular season 14-2. It is the fifth time over the last six years the storied program has won 14 games or more. They post a 31-4 two-year mark, with only four teams (Salisbury, Stevenson, Cortland, Gettysburg) posting a better record.
Stevenson (14-1) and Dickinson (13-1), the only two defeats on Roanoke's schedule, are both ranked in the top-five at #3 and #5, respectively. ODAC-foes Lynchburg (11-4), Washington & Lee (10-4) and Hampden-Sydney (10-4) hold down the #12, #17 and #20 spots, respectively. Other Roanoke opponents in the poll are Cabrini (10-3) which moved up one spot to 13th and Williams received votes.
In the national rankings, Roanoke is the highest-scoring offense in Div. III, ranked first in both scoring offense (16.92 goals per game) and points per game (27.54). They are ranked second in assists per game (10.62 apg) and scoring margin (9.31). The 46.31 groundballs per game are seventh in the nation while their man-up offense is 14th in the rankings.
The Maroons will await their opponent in the ODAC Semifinals, as they receive a first-round bye. That game will be held on May 2 at Kerr Stadium. A game time has yet to be determined.
