Game Notes vs Colorado College

The Maroons will host Colorado College on Wednesday, May 11th at 7:00 p.m. at Donald J. Kerr Stadium, in the First Round of the 2011 NCAA Tournament. Roanoke is coming off a 12-10 win over #18 Lynchburg in the ODAC Championship game on Sunday to claim their second-straight conference title.

Colorado College completed an undefeated season, posting a 15-0 record. They received the automatic qualifying bid from the SCAC after winning the conference title over Birmingham-Southern College. Among the national leaders, the Tigers are second in faceoff percentage, in the top-10 in scoring offense, and in the top-five in man down defense. Colorado is led by Carson Christman, who has 32 goals and 40 assists for 72 points this season and was named First-Team All-SCAC. Senior defenseman Zach Hoisington was named SCAC Defender of the Year and anchors what is, statistically, the best defense in the country.

Roanoke is 14-3 on the year after winning their 17th ODAC Championship. The Maroons are ranked among the best in NCAA Div. III in points per game (1st), assists per game (1st), groundballs per game (2nd), scoring offense (3rd) and man-up offense (5th). Justin Tuma (Bloomfield Hills, MI, Lahser), who was named both the Scholar-Athlete and Player of the Year in the ODAC, is ranked fifth nationally in groundballs and 19th in face-off win percentage. Jeff Keating (Chatham, NJ, Chatham) is the top leading scorer for Roanoke, posting 69 points with 44 goals this season. The Maroons are making their 23 NCAA Tournament appearance, and sixth in the past seven years.
