ASHLAND, Va. -- Roanoke College senior midfielder Justin Tuma (Bloomfield Hills, MI, Lahser) and Maroons' field general Bill Pilat took home the top awards as player of the year and coach of the year, respectively, as part of the 2011 Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) College Division Men's Lacrosse All-State Team. Jeff Keating (Chatham, NJ, Chatham) and Alex Burkhead (Winston-Salem, NC, Forsyth Country Day) joined Tuma on the first-team, while Trey Keeley took home second-team honors.

Tuma earns player of the year of the year honors following a senior season in which he was named an All-American for the third-time in his career. The midfielder and two-year team captain holds the career season and game groundball records and is a three-time winner of the programs' groundball award. Tuma is a three-time All-ODAC selection and totaled 26 goals and 28 assists for 54 points on the season, in addition to school-records of 257 face-off wins and 200 groundballs.

Pilat's state coach of the year honor is the eighth time he has been recognized by the organization in his 23-year career. In 2011, Pilat led RC to a 17-4 record and a 7-0 ODAC mark, running their conference regular season win streak to 21 games. The Maroons captured the ODAC Tournament title and advanced to the NCAA National Semifinals for the sixth time in school history.

Burkhead, a two-time All-American, earned a spot on the All-ODAC squad for the third-straight season, including back-to-back first-team accolades. A team captain this season, he started in all 21 games this season and 71 of 75 career games on the defensive end. This season, the North Carolina native totaled two goals, two assists, 62 groundballs and 47 caused turnovers. He has compiled 182 groundballs and 71 caused turnovers for his career.

Keating, a junior from New Jersey, led the ODAC and ranked among the top-30 in NCAA Div. III in scoring (87pts) and goals (39th). He is led the ODAC in goals (55) and ranked third in assists (32) while atop the conference in man-up goals with nine. Keating is ranked 12th on the career scoring list (193pts) and 10th in career goals (119) at Roanoke. The attackman was a three-time ODAC Player of the Week selection this year en route to a second-consecutive All-ODAC selection.
Keeley, a two-time All-American, earned All-ODAC recognition for the second time in his career earlier this month. He ranks second in the ODAC with 26 assists. Keeley is ranked 12th all-time at Roanoke in career assists. The senior started in 14 of 17 games while totaling 25 goals, 51 points and won 51-of-87 face-offs (.586). Keeley, a three-year starter, totaled 149 career points, ranking him 22nd on the career scoring list.

Roanoke finished 17-4, 7-0 in the ODAC. The Maroons, ranked #7 in the final USILA National Poll, finished as a national finalist for the sixth time in program-history. The 21-game conference win-streak is the second-longest in ODAC history, completing the third consecutive season with an undefeated conference ledger. RC knocked off Lynchburg to cap back-to-back ODAC Championships. They finished the year ranked first in the country in assists (10.5) and points per game (26.5), third in scoring offense (16 gpg) and fourth in groundballs per game (44.8).
