Roanoke Falls Short to #13 Dickinson, 14-9 on Saturday
SALEM - The Roanoke Men's Lacrosse team fell short on Saturday to #13 Dickinson College, 14-9. The #10 Roanoke Maroons now sit at 3-2, while the Red Devils are now 4-1 in play this season.

Dickinson went up 3-0 to start the first period before the Maroons were able to net a goal. At the 4:19 mark, Conner DuBois found the back of the net, off a pass from Drew Bracken to cut the deficit to two, 3-1. The Red Devils put two more in goal before the end of the period, going ahead 5-1 at the end of the first.

Jeff Keating tried to swing the momentum in Roanoke's direction at the start of the second, scoring just one minute into the period. The Maroons held off Dickinson's offense for just three more minutes before the Red Devils scored three consecutive in the period to take an 8-2 lead. Richard Lachlan and Kyle Smith each scored a goal in the final two minutes of the half sending Roanoke to the locker room trailing by four, 8-4.

Dickinson opened the second half just as they had in the first, scoring two goals right off the bat, going ahead six, 10-4. Lachlan scored another goal at the 7:54 mark in the third, receiving a pass from Spencer Parsons. The Red Devils scored twice more by the end of the period, upping their lead to 12-5 to enter the fourth period.

Lachlan scored his third goal just 30 seconds in to the fourth period to cut the deficit to six. Joey Coretti followed suit by scoring a goal of his own at the 11:40 mark to make the score 12-7. Dickinson stopped Roanoke's surge by scoring two more goals. Lachlan scored his fourth with 4:17 to play to come back within six, 14-8. Keating scored the final goal of the game with 3:26 to play. Roanoke fell to #13 Dickinson 14-9.

Lachlan led the Maroons with four goals off eight shots. He was followed by Keating who had two goals on four shots. DuBois led the team in groundballs with seven. Pease played the full game in goal, making 13 saves during the contest.

Will Scott and Sam Greenberg each scored three goals for the Red Devils, each off five shots. Chip Murphy won 17-26 face-offs and gained a team high 16 groundballs. Greg Hanley earned the win in goal allowing nine goals and making six saves.

Roanoke returns to action as they play host to the College of Wooster on Wednesday, March 14th. That contest is scheduled to begin at 7:00 PM
