Men's Lacrosse Bounces Back With 16-4 Victory over Wooster on Wednesday
SALEM - The #13 ranked Roanoke Men's Lacrosse team recovered quickly after their Sunday loss by defeating Wooster 16-4 on Wednesday night. Roanoke now sits at 4-2 on the season, while Wooster drops to 3-3 overall.

Roanoke now sits at 2-0 all time against Wooster. The last meeting between the two teams was in 1983, where the Maroons were victorious 17-2.

The Maroons shut out Wooster in the first period, 3-0, with goals coming from Mike Hayden, Richard Lachlan and Joey Coretti. Roanoke and the Scots combined for eight goals in the second period. Four of the six goals that the Maroons scored in that period came with a man-up advantage. Roanoke led at the half, 9-2.

Coretti netted two more goals in the third period, extending his count to four for the contest. With 4:31 to play in the third, Coretti's goal extended the Maroon lead to 13-3. Also scoring their fourth goal in the game was Jeff Keating who opened up the final quarter of the contest with a goal to push the score to 14-4. The Maroons would score two more before the end of the contest to take the 16-4 victory.

Coretti and Keating led the Maroons with 4 goals each. Keating's fourth goal propelled him ahead of Sean Smith in Roanoke All-Time points with 209. Just behind them was Reid Mayberry who tallied three goals on the evening. Hayden finished the game as the team leader in assists with five. Max Satossky had a team high 13 ground balls, also going 13-15 during his time at face-off duty.

Pat Henderson scored a team-high two goals for the Scots. He was followed by Tom Herold and Patrick Schlick who each scored one. Wooster's goalkeeper, Matt Magoon, led the team in groundballs on the night with five. Magoon also had 21 saves on the evening.

The Maroons return to action on Saturday, March 17th as they face #9 ranked Lynchburg College. That contest is scheduled for a 7:00 PM start under the lights on Saturday night.
