Men's Lacrosse Falls in Semi-Finals to W&L, 13-8 on Saturday
SALEM - The Roanoke College Men's Lacrosse team fell in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Tournament semi-final game to Washington and Lee, 13-8 on Saturday. The #9 ranked Maroons fall to 11-4 overall and 6-1 in the ODAC. Washington and Lee is now 9-9 and moves on to play next Saturday in the ODAC Championship game against the winner of the Virginia Wesleyan/Lynchburg matchup.

Roanoke defeated Washington and Lee earlier in the season 14-12 in Lexington, Virginia.

The Generals jumped out to an early 2-0 lead as Mac Means and Scott Meehan found the back of the net in just the first five minutes of the contest. The Maroons responded over the next three minutes with Richard Lachlan scoring two goals and Jeff Keating with one of his own to take the 3-2 lead with 7:00 to play in the first.

However, Just after Lachlan's second goal, W&L's Garrett Paglia scored to tie the game at 3-3, a score that would hold for the remainder of the period. Meehan who tallied a goal in the first, opened up the second period with back to back goals, allowing the Generals to go ahead 5-3 with 9:39 to play in the first half. While the Maroons found the back of the net a few times in the second half, it was the Generals who always had an answer, not allowing Roanoke to piece together back to back goals. Joey Coretti scored one, and Keating had two more in the half, but Washington and Lee led 8-6 to end the first half.

Washington and Lee kept up the pace in the third period, scoring the only two goals of the period, and taking a 10-6 lead with 15 minutes to play. The Generals scored one to open the fourth, then Reid Mayberry netted one just five seconds later to try and mount a comeback for the Maroons, who were down 11-7. But, Washington and Lee scored two more after Mayberry's goal to go up 13-7 with 4:54 to play. The Generals played a lot of clock management over those last minutes and Roanoke could only score once more as Coretti found the back of the net with :31 on the clock. The Maroons fell 13-8 in the ODAC Semi-Finals.

The Maroons led in many offensive categories: shots (56-32), ground balls (47-35) and faceoffs (14-11). The Generals had the edge in clears (17-14) and saves (20-8).

Jeff Keating and Richard Lachlan led the Maroons with three points each, Keating with three goals and Lachlan with two goals and an assist. Brayden Gerrie and Brendan Nizolek led the Maroons with two assists each. Both Gerrie and Keating were named to the 2012 ODAC All-Tournament Team.

Scott Meehan led the Generals with seven points, netting five goals and dishing out two assists. Warren Berenis picked up the win for W&L, playing all 60 minutes in goal and made 20 saves.
