Three Maroons Named to 2012 VaSID Men's Lacrosse All-State Team
LYNCHBURG - Three Roanoke College Men's Lacrosse Players were named to the 2012 VaSID All-State Team, announced Wednesday. Jeff Keating earned first-team honors, while Mike Hayden and Eric DeLong were tabbed with second team accolades.

Jeff Keating - Senior - Attack

Keating, a two time All-American, earns his second VaSID All-State honors. The senior earned first-team honors in 2011 as well. He ranked fourth in the NCAA in points per game (4.93), and 10th in assists per game (2.33). Keating led the team in points (74) and assists (35), while being second on the squad in goals (39). The senior is second all-time in points scored (267) and total goals (158) at Roanoke College over his four-year career. He holds the Roanoke all-time record for man-up goals with 36, scoring 15 of those in 2012. Keating was named ODAC Player of the Week on April 9th, an award he earned by tallying 14 points over the course of two games. He also played for the South in the 2012 USILA North/South Game, scoring one goal in the process.

Mike Hayden - Junior - Midfield

Mike Hayden
, a junior midfielder, ranked second in points on the Roanoke squad, tallying 48. The two-time All-ODAC selection dished out 29 assists, which ranked him third in the ODAC and 17th in the NCAA in assists per game (2.07). Hayden put up 25 total points against conference opponents, the fourth highest total in the ODAC. He also finished the season with 26 ground balls and three man-up goals.

Eric DeLong - Senior - Defense

DeLong, scored his lone goal of 2012 in the North/South game, as he was a strong member of the Maroon defense this season. He is a two-time All-ODAC selection, earning the first-team nod in 2012. DeLong was an All-ODAC honorable mention in 2011. He played and started in all 15 games for the Maroons this season. DeLong led the team in forced turnovers, causing the opponents to lose possession 31 times. He also gathered 30 ground balls, and earned an assist against Guilford College on April 18th. DeLong also scored a goal as a member of the South squad in the 2012 USILA North/South Game.
