14 Maroons Score in Roanoke's 22-5 Win Over Shenandoah
SALEM - The Roanoke College men's lacrosse team defeated Shenandoah University 22-5 on Wednesday evening. The Maroons now have a record of 7-3; 4-0 ODAC, while the Hornets are now 5-5; 0-4 in ODAC play.

Shenandoah started the game off with two goals in the first minute of the first half. Colin Fowler scored both goals for the Hornets to open the game. After those two goals, Roanoke went on a 8-0 that ran through the end of the first quarter. Eight different players scored during the Roanoke run, with two of the goals being assisted by Michael Lintner. At the end of the first quarter, Roanoke held an 8-2 lead.

The pace slowed down in the second quarter as only four goals were scored. Richard Lachlan netted the first goal at the 11:00 mark. Shenandoah's Matt Justice scored a few minutes later to pull the Hornets back within six, 9-3. In the final two minutes of the half, Tyler McWilliams and Conner DuBois scored one goal each to close the first half with an 11-3 lead.

The Maroons rattled off another 7-0 run to open up the third quarter. Will Pilat scored two goals during the run, while Spencer Parsons, Richard Lachlan, Colin Rossano, Troy Grogan, and Nick Wolf found the back of the net as well. Shenandoah's Sean Ohlhaver scored with 2:20 to go in the quarter, closing the period with Roanoke ahead 18-4. The Maroons outscored Shenandoah 4-1 in the final quarter, as McWilliams, Wolf, Rossano and Seth Fortman found the back of the net for Roanoke. At the end of sixty minutes, Roanoke defeated Shenandoah 22-5.

Tyler McWilliams and Nick Wolf led the Maroons in scoring, netting three goals each. Four different Maroons (Spencer Parsons, Richard Lachlan, Will Pilat, Colin Rossano) finished the game with two goals apiece. Michael Lintner and Joey Dishaw finished the contest with a game high three assists each. Charles Pease picked up the win after playing 15 minute in goal, allowing two goals and making one save.

The Hornets were led in scoring by Sean Ohlhaver and Colin Fowler who finished the contest with two goals each. Scotty Sweigart and Nick Rondeau tallied one assist each during the game. Tyler Quinn picked up the loss after playing 45 minutes in goal and allowing 18 goals.

The Maroons led in ground balls (67-37), shots (70-17), and face offs (18-11). The Hornets had the advantage in saves (18-3), while also leading in turnovers (37-20).

The Maroons return to action on Saturday, April 6th as they face off against #7 ranked Lynchburg College on the road. The contest is scheduled for a 7:00 PM start time.
