#13 Maroons Top Quakers 16-5 in ODAC Action
GREENSBORO, NC - The #13 Roanoke College men's lacrosse team remains undefeated in Old Dominion Athletic Conference play after defeating Guilford 16-5 on Wednesday. The Maroons have a record of 12-3; 8-0 ODAC, while the Quakers are 7-7; 2-5 in ODAC action.

Guilford scored the first two goals on Roanoke in the first six minutes of the contest. Roanoke responded in the first quarter with two goals of their own, one each from Tyler Cockey and Conner DuBois. After the first 15 minutes, the game was tied at 2-2.

Roanoke rattled off the first three goals of the second period, as Cockey and Joey Dishaw started with an unassisted goal each. At the 8:39 mark, Will Carter netted a goal off an assist from Mike Hayden, giving Ronaoke a 5-2 lead. Starting at 7:08, the Quakers scored two goals over the next 30 seconds to pull within one, 5-4. Cockey capped the first half with his third goal of the game, giving Roanoke a 6-4 advantage after 30 minutes of play.

The Maroons outscored the Quakers in the third quarter, 4-1. Goals for Roanoke came from Tyler McWilliams, Richard Lachlan, Chad Smith and Conner DuBois. After 45 minutes of play, Roanoke led 10-5. The Maroons went on to hold the Quakers scoreless in the final period of play. Will Pilat opened the quarter with two back-to-back goals, one assisted by Lachlan, the other by McWilliams. At the 7:15 mark, Colin Rossano scored a man-down goal, giving the Maroons a 13-5 lead. Over the final six minutes, Will Carter, Charlie Shugrue and Marquis Terrell all found the back of the net as Roanoke was victorious, 16-5 in ODAC play.

Roanoke was led in scoring by Tyler Cockey who finished with three goals, going along with one assist. Three players finished with two goals each: Conner DuBois, Will Pilat and Will Carter. Charles Pease and Wes Pancoast led the team with four ground balls each. Pease picked up the victory between the pipes, playing 52:13 minute, making eight saves.

Five different players scored one goal each for the Quakers. Guilford's Adam Fiore led the team in assists with two. Nick Huckins topped the team in ground balls with four. Thomas Deane was tabbed with the loss after giving up 16 goals, but making 14 saves.

The Maroons held the advantage in shots (57-35), ground balls (34-29), and clears (24-16).

The Maroons return to action on Saturday, April 20th as they play host to #9 ranked Washington and Lee. That contest, which also serves as senior day, is scheduled for a 2:00 PM start.
