Lachlan and Pilat Highlight 2013 Men's Lacrosse All-ODAC Awards
FOREST, Va. --- Roanoke College attack Richard Lachlan headlines the 2013 ODAC Men's Lacrosse Awards after being named the ODAC Player of the Year. Maroons' mentor Bill Pilat was tabbed the ODAC Coach of the Year, while Virginia Wesleyan College attack Josh Currier earned ODAC Rookie of the Year laurels. Washington and Lee University defenseman Joe LaSala picked up his second straight ODAC/Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete Award in a vote of the league's sports information directors.

Lachlan, a senior from Port Coquitlam, B.C., Canada, leads Roanoke and is fourth in the ODAC in points scored with 54 heading into the conference semifinals. He's notched 43 goals, which is third in the conference. He's notched at least one point in each of 16 games played, including a season-high nine (6 goals, 3 assists) in a non-conference win over the College of Wooster (18-6). He's tied atop the conference with four game-winning goals, including the deciding tallies in one-goal wins over Stevenson University (14-13) and Washington and Lee (9-8). Lachlan opened the year as Preseason Honorable Mention All-American by Inside Lacrosse magazine.

Pilat, in his 25th season on the Maroon's sidelines, enjoys his 10th ODAC top coaching honor as his squad is currently ranked seventh by the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA). He has Roanoke positioned at the top of the conference with a 13-3 overall record and a 9-0 mark in league action. RC is seeded #1 in the ODAC postseason, affording it hosting rights for the semifinal and championship rounds. Entering the semifinals, Pilat owns a 275-117 (.702) career record.

Also Joining Lachlan on the All-ODAC First Team are seniors Conner Dubois and Braden Gerrie, as well as junior goalkeeper Charles Pease. Dubois earned an Honorable Mention All-ODAC nod in 2012. He played all 16 games and was third on the squad in goals scored, netting 22 goals. He also finished with 12 assists, totaling 37 total points. He also scored three man-up goals this year. Gerrie, the 2012 USILA All-American, played in all 16 games for the Maroons and scored four goals off of seven shots. He also picked up 51 ground balls and forced 17 turnovers. Goalkeeper Charles Pease started in goal for all 16 games for the Maroons in 2013. He earned 13 wins which is tied for fifth in single-season wins at Roanoke College. He tallied 823 minutes in goal, and has a goal against average of 9.19. Entering the ODAC Tournament, he has made 162 saves, and a save percentage of .562, his highest in his three years in net.

Earning Second Team All-ODAC honors are senior Mike Hayden and sophomore Troy Grogan. Hayden earns his second All-ODAC award after being named First Team All-ODAC in 2012. He ranked second in points for the Maroons, scoring 17 goals and 29 assists for 46 points. Hayden currently has taken 77 shots, 44 of which were on goal. With 29, he currently ranks second in the ODAC in assists. Grogran played defense for the Maroons in 2013. He currently has 32 ground balls to his credit, leading into the ODAC Tournament. He has two goals on the season including one in the 9-8 win over Washington and Lee on April 20th.

Two more players reached the All-ODAC ranks as freshman Will Pilat and sophomore Wes Pancoast were named Third Team All-ODAC. Will Pilat currently ranks fourth on the team in total points, scoring 29 goals and 13 assists. His 29 goals ranks second among the Maroons. He also has 31 ground balls and four forced turnovers. Pilat tacks on three game winning goals and six man-up goals to his outstanding first year performance. Wes Pancoast played defense for the Maroons but dished out two assists thus far in the 2013 season. He has 34 ground balls to his credit, while also forcing 15 turnovers which ranks second on the squad.
