SALEM - In a match that was as tight as it was the first time these two teams played this season, the Roanoke College men's lacrosse team won its 18^th ODAC Championship after defeating Washington and Lee 10-9 on Sunday. The Maroons win in the 2013 Old Dominion Athletic Conference Championship leaves the team with a record of 15-3, while the Generals sit with a mark of 15-4.

The win in today's game is Roanoke's 18^th ODAC Championship, starting since 1981. This is also Roanoke's fifth ODAC Championship since the ODAC Tournament began in 2002. With the win, Roanoke grabs its 24th NCAA Tournament bid, and will find out at 10:00 PM tonight about when they will play next.

The Maroons defeated Washington and Lee earlier this season in a 9-8 battle. The Maroons trailed by one entering the final quarter, but outscored the Generals 3-1 to take the game and win the #1 seed in the ODAC Tournament.

Conner DuBois scored the first goal of the game at the 10:59 mark, off of an assist by Mike Hayden, taking the early lead. The Generals' All-ODAC selection, Cameron Dabir scored the equalizer less than a minute later. The teams then traded one goal each over the final 10 minutes of the quarter, including a goal from ODAC Player of the Year, Richard Lachlan.

Lachlan opened up the second quarter with three consecutive goals, the last one marking his 50^th goal of the season. With those three goals, Roanoke took a 5-2 lead over Washington and Lee. The Generals scored their first goal of the second period as Cooper found the back of the net with 8:08 to play. The teams went back and forth scoring over the final eight minutes of the half, as Hayden and DuBois each scored for the Maroons. For Washington and Lee, Dabir netted a goal and Brown scored the last goal of the half as Roanoke entered the break with a 7-5 lead.

Tyler McWilliams scored the first goal of the third quarter off of an assist from Will Pilat, his 19^th of the season. Hayden scored once more with 7:46 to play in the period, netting his 20^th goal of the year. The Generals scored with 3:33 to go in the third, as Dabir scored his third goal of the game.

Washington and Lee outscored Roanoke 3-1 in the fourth quarter. Tyler Goldman scored for the Maroons in the first 40 seconds of the period, pulling the Generals within two, 9-7. Roanoke widened the gap as Will Pilat scored for the Maroons with 12:58 on the clock, netting the team's 10^th goal. Down the stretch, Joe Wood scored for W&L, pulling back within two. The Generals scored once more with 3:14 to go, as Dabir potted the goal once again. However that would be the final goal of the game as Roanoke went on to win the 2013 Old Dominion Athletic Conference Championship.

The Maroons were led in scoring by Richard Lachlan who tallied four goals on the afternoon. He was followed by Mike Hayden and Conner DuBois, each finishing the contest with two goals. Hayden and Will Pilat each finished the game with three assists. Charles Pease picked up the win in goal, playing all 60 minutes and tallying 14 saves.

Cameron Dabir was the top goal-scorer for the Generals, tallying four goals on the afternoon. He was followed by Cooper Brown and Joe Wood who each finished the game with two goals. Brown also led the team with two assists. Warren Berenis played all 60 minutes between the pipes, tallying nine saves in the loss.

Washington and Lee led the Maroons in shots, (47-33), faceoffs (14-9) and turnovers (8-19). The Maroons held the advantage in ground balls (34-32), clears (18-12) and extra-man goals (3-1).

The Maroons have to wait to find out when they will play their next game in the NCAA Tournament. Roanoke will watch the selection show as a team at All-Sports Café in downtown Salem at 10:00 PM tonight. After the selection show, the Roanoke website will be updated with the information regarding the next game.
