The Maroons are coming off of the team's 18th Old Dominion Athletic Conference Championship after defeating Washington and Lee, 10-9 on Sunday evening. ODAC Player of the Year, Richard Lachlan, led the squad in scoring, putting up four goals on the day. ODAC Third-Team Selection Will Pilat netted Roanoke's 10th goal and eventual game-winner with 12:58 to play in the fourth quarter to give the Maroons the title.
Just a few hours after winning the conference crown, the Maroons found out that they would be hosting an NCAA Tournament first round matchup against Centre College out of the Southern Athletic Association. Centre enters the tournament with a record of 11-3 and were 6-1 in conference play. The Colonels recently had 11 players named to the All-SAA Teams, and are led by Zach Conners who had 43 goals this season.
The Maroons and the Colonels will square off in Donald J. Kerr Stadium on Wednesday afternoon. The contest is scheduled for a 4:00 PM start.
