BALTIMORE, MD – The Roanoke College men's lacrosse team was picked eighth in the 2014 Lacrosse Magazine preseason poll, announced Wednesday.

The Maroons were also selected 11^th in the Inside Lacrosse Faceoff Magazine DIII Top 20 Rankings, announced in December.  Roanoke finished the 2013 season with a record of 16-4, winning the program's 18^th ODAC Championship and 24^th NCAA Tournament bid.

There are six opponents in the pre-season annual survey that the Maroons will face this season.  On February 16^th, Roanoke plays host to St. Mary's College, who was picked 16^th in the poll.  St. Mary's made its first ever appearance in the NCAA Tournament last season, but fell to Lynchburg in the first round.  In the very next game, Roanoke takes on Denison University, ranked 15^th in the poll.  Denison won the NCAC regular season in 2013.

On March 8^th, the Maroons will play #5 Dickinson at Kerr Stadium.  Dickinson finished the season with a record of 18-1 last year, losing its only game to Salisbury in the NCAA Quarterfinals.  On March 15^th, Roanoke travels to Stevenson to take on the poll's #1 squad.  The Maroons face off against reigning NCAA Division III champions on the road.

On March 29^th, Roanoke takes on #13 Washington and Lee in Lexington, VA.  The Maroons defeated the Generals in the ODAC championship game in 2013.  #12 Lynchburg comes to Salem on April 5^th to play the Maroons.  Lynchburg knocked the Roanoke out of the NCAA Tournament in a second round contest.

Roanoke opens the 2014 season on February 8^th as they play host to the University of Mary Washington.  That contest is scheduled for a 2:00 PM start.
