FRISCO, TX – The Roanoke College men's lacrosse team put on a free lacrosse clinic on March 2^nd for the Frisco Lacrosse Program. 

During Roanoke's spring break trip in Texas, the Maroons have toured a few historical places, including the George W. Bush Library and Dealey Plaza. 

"We had the chance to check out the George W. Bush Library and Museum," said Assistant Coach Justin Tuma.  "Our guys really enjoyed learning about our 43rd President and his historical perspective and legacy."

The trip has allowed the coaches and student athletes to take in educational experiences outside of the Roanoke Valley.  However, also during the time in Texas, Coach Pilat and the men's lacrosse team did some teaching of their own by putting on a free lacrosse clinic for over 150 youth lacrosse players.


"It is great to be able to help out with the young lacrosse players here in Texas," said Pilat.  "Our Roanoke student athletes were great ambassadors for the sport of lacrosse and Roanoke College.  After the clinic, many of the young players were asking our Roanoke guys for autographs and photographs.  It took us quite a while to leave the complex because of all the extra attention our players gave to the participants". 

The Roanoke players helped the youth run through lacrosse drills, small scrimmage scenarios, faceoffs and goalkeeper skills.


"Any time we can travel and see other parts of this great country, it is a fantastic experience for our students and to be able to meet and interact with fellow lacrosse players.  All of it makes the experience even more special," said Pilat.
