LEXINGTON – The Roanoke College men's lacrosse team fell on the road on Saturday to Washington and Lee, 9-7 in Old Dominion Athletic Conference action.  The Maroons take their first ODAC loss, now holding a record of 7-4, 3-1 ODAC, while the Generals are 6-4, 3-0 ODAC.

Roanoke and Washington and Lee competed on Saturday as a pair of teams who both received votes in the latest USILA poll.  It was also the first meeting between these two teams since they paired off in the ODAC Championship game on May 5th of 2013.

Washington and Lee jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first five minutes of the game, after Christian Zanetis scored two goals, both assisted by Joe Wood.  The Generals' Garrett Paglia added a goal with 4:34 to play in the period as Roanoke trailed Washington and Lee, 3-0 after the first quarter.

Cam Lewis opened the third just as he had the second, scoring an unassisted goal just a minute into the period.  After a 11 minute scoring drought by both teams, Joey Dishaw broke the silence and scored off of a pass from Chad Smith, getting the Maroons back within two, 5-3.  W&L's Jack Reuter scored with 1:47 to play to close the third with a 6-3 General lead.

Washington and Lee started the fourth quarter by scoring three goals in the first four minutes.  Goals came from Drew Kenavan, Lewis and Wood, as the General extended their lead to six, 9-3.  Roanoke started to play catch-up over the course of the final 11 minutes.  With 8:35 to play, Joey Dishaw scored an unassisted goal.  He was followed three minutes later by Kevin Jackson who netted a goal off of a pass by Spencer Parsons.  Parsons assisted the next Roanoke goal as well, this time coming from Colin Mackenzie.  With 3:21 to play, Roanoke trailed by three, 9-6.  However, Ronaoke would only score one more goal, another from Kevin Jackson, assisted by Michael Lintner with 24 seconds to play, as Roanoke fell to Washington and Lee 9-7.

The Maroons were led in scoring by Joey Dishaw and Kevin Jackson who scored two goals each.  Spencer Parsons led the squad in assists with two on the afternoon.  Roanoke finished with 16 ground balls with Michael Packo leading the team with three.  The Maroons also forced six turnovers.  Charles Pease played all 60 minutes in goal, tallying 11 saves.
