Men's Lacrosse Rolls Past Shenandoah 15-4 on Wednesday
WINCHESTER – The Roanoke College men's lacrosse team rolled to a 15-4 victory over ODAC opponent Shenandoah University on Wednesday night. The Maroons now have a record of 9-4 overall, while sporting a 5-1 record in ODAC play. The Hornets sit with a mark of 5-8, 1-4 in the ODAC.

The Maroons are winners of five of their last six games, as well as eight of their last 10 contests. The Maroons have an all time 3-0 record over the Hornets, with a 37-9 scoring advantage in the last two meetings.

After four scoreless minutes to open the first quarter, Spencer Parsons scored an unassisted goal to get the ball rolling for the Maroons. Tyler McWilliams, who ranks third in the ODAC in total points (39), followed with back-to-back goals through the 6:20 mark of the quarter to give Roanoke a 3-0 advantage. Shenandoah's Eric Hobby tallied an unassisted goal at 5:49 to put the Hornets on the board. Roanoke's Joey Dishaw rounded out the Maroons scoring, slipping one past the keeper with 3:23 to play. After the first quarter, Roanoke led 4-1.

Shenandoah's Drew Brooks scored off of an assist from Matt Petrie within the first two minutes of the second quarter, pulling the Hornets within two, 4-2. Roanoke widened the gap just a few minutes later as Colin Mackenzie scored off of a McWilliams pass to put the lead back to three. With 7:07 remaining in the half, Kevin Jackson tallied a goal, assisted by Mackenzie, putting the Maroons ahead 6-2 entering half.

Roanoke did not let up in the start of the second half, as the Maroons notched four goals in the first five minutes of the quarter. Goals during that span came from Jackson, Colin Rossano, a man-up goal from Will Pilat and another goal from Mackenzie. With 10:47 on the clock in the third, Roanoke's advantage now stood at 10-2. After a Shenandoah goal, Roanoke potted three more goals by the end of the third. Goals were scored by McWilliams, Rossano and Jackson to take a commanding 13-3 lead entering the fourth.

Shenandoah started the fourth with a man-up goal by Stephen LaTona, cutting the defecit to nine, but Roanoke scored two more goals by the end of the quarter, one each from Cam Linsley and McWilliams. Roanoke took home the 15-4 victory in the Wednesday night match-up.

The Maroons were led in scoring by Tyler McWilliams, who scored four goals along with two assists on the night. He was followed by Kevin Jackson with three goals in the game. Colin Mackenzie dished out a team high three assists in the game, while McWilliams finished with two. Charles Pease picked up the win, tallying seven saves in 45 minutes of play. Max Kraus won 10 of 14 face-offs on the night as well.

The Hornets finished with four goals on the night, led by Drew Brooks with two. Frank Tejera and Matt Petrie had one assist each on the night. Tilghman Sanders had a team high seven ground balls, followed by Dom Lombardi with five.

The Maroons return to action on Saturday, April 5th as they host #7 Lynchburg College at 2:00 PM at Kerr Stadium.
