Men's Lacrosse Tops #9 Ranked Lynchburg College, 13-7 on Saturday
SALEM – The Roanoke College men's lacrosse team defeated #9 ranked Lynchburg College on Saturday afternoon, 13-7. The Maroons now move up with a record of 9-4, 5-1 in ODAC play, while the Hornets fall to 7-4, 2-1 in the ODAC.

The Maroons have won two out of the last three meetings against Lynchburg College. The first came on April 6, 2013 as Lynchburg was ranked #7 in the nation, winning 14-13 in overtime. The Maroons fell in the second round of the NCAA tournament to the #13 ranked Hornets 12-9. Today's win is Roanoke's largest margin of victory over Lynchburg since March 31, 2010, where the Maroons won 15-7.

Roanoke led off with three straight goals in the first five minutes of the game. Colin Rossano scored the first goal of the game, assisted by Tyler McWilliams. McWilliams scored his own goal just 30 seconds later, with an assist from Will Pilat. The pattern continued as Pilat scored Roanoke's third. With 10:38 to play, Roanoke led 3-0. After a Lynchburg goal, Roanoke scored one more in the first, as McWilliams netted an unassisted goal with 6:51 left to lead 4-1. The Hornets scored two more by the end of the quarter, including Chris Hower netting a goal with just one second left on the clock. After the first, Roanoke held a 4-3 advantage.

The second half started with an eight minute drought by both teams, until Kevin Jackson broke the silence with an unassisted goal at 7:42. Just a 10 seconds later, Will Carter marched down the field for the Maroons scoring Roanoke's sixth. Aaron Murphy netted his second goal at 7:24 in the second, scoring off of an assist from Eric Lombardo. Roanoke's Kevin Jackson closed out the half with two more goals, including one assisted by Carter. At halftime, Roanoke had an 8-4 lead over the Hornets.

Roanoke and Lynchburg traded two goals each in the third, with Roanoke scoring goals from Kevin Jackson and Joey Dishaw. Jackson's goal came from a man-up opportunity, assisted by Chad Smith. Roanoke went on to outscore Lynchburg 3-1 in the fourth quarter to seal the victory. Roanoke's goals in the fourth were scored by Joey Dishaw, Kevin Jackson and Steven Jackson. Roanoke completed the win with a 13-7 victory over Lynchburg College

Kevin Jackson led the team with five goals scored off 11 shots on the night. He was followed by Tyler McWilliams and Joey Dishaw, who scored two goals each. Roanoke finished with five assists, each scored by five different players. Max Kraus and Charles Pease led the team with five ground balls. Charles Pease picked up the victory in goal, playing 59 of the 60 minutes, tallying 10 saves.

Lynchburg was led in scoring by Aaron Murphy with two goals, while five other Hornets scored one goal each. Eric Lombardo and David Alyanakian finished with one assist apiece. Lombardo also sported a team best five ground balls. Andrw Fawkes was tabbed with the loss, while tallying 10 saves.

The Maroons led in shots (39-37) and ground balls (39-36), while Lynchburg led in faceoffs 12 to 10.

The Maroons return to action on Wednesday, April 9th as they host Randolph-Macon College in Kerr Stadium. That contest is scheduled for a 7:00 PM start.
