Maroons Roll In 16-9 Victory over Randolph-Macon on Saturday
ASHLAND – The Roanoke College men's lacrosse team rolled in a 16-9 victory over Randolph-Macon on Saturday afternoon.  The Maroons now have a record of 3-2, 1-0 in ODAC play, while the Yellow Jackets are 3-6 on the year, with an 0-1 mark in ODAC play.
 
The Maroons are 40-4 all time against Randolph-Macon.  The Maroons have won the last 39 meetings between the two teams.
 
Randolph-Macon opened the first quarter with a goal from Alex Camilliere at the 13:58 mark, unassisted to take an early 1-0 advantage.  However, the Maroons scored the next, and only other, three goals in the quarter.  Kevin Jackson tallied the first two of Roanoke's goals, the second coming at the 5:21 mark, taking a 2-1 advantage over the Yellow Jackets.  Tyler McWilliams followed with 2:40 left in the quarter to build a two goal, 3-1 lead by the end of the first half.
 
The Yellow Jackets tied the game in the first minute of the quarter after both Coleman Adams and Sam Mayer each found the back of the net for a 3-3 tie.  Roanoke then rattled off four consecutive goals to reclaim the lead and go ahead with a  7-3 advantage.  Maroon goals came from Kevin Jackson, Steven Jackson and two from Colin Mackenzie.  Mackenzie's last goal was unassisted, coming at the 5:52 mark in the second quarter.  Randolph-Macon responded with three straight goals through the end of the half.  Miles Muncie scored the first goal for the Yellow Jackets, while Ryan Davidson potted the next two, with the second coming with an assist from Coleman Adams.  At the end of the first half, Roanoke led 7-7 over Randolph-Macon.
 
Roanoke broke the contest wide open in the third quarter, outscoring Randolph-Macon 6-1.  Kevin Jackson opened up the scoring in the first 30 seconds of the game, with an assist from Colin Mackenzie.  Less than a minute later, Hayden Miller tallied a goal with an assist from Jackson.  At the 7:27 mark, Jackson scored his fifth goal of the contest, again assisted by Mackenzie.  Mackenzie earned his third goal of the game with 7:10 to play, assisted by Tyler Mcwilliams.  Dale Smith scored at 4:04 with an assist from Cameron Linsley.  Randolph-Macon scored at 2:56, but Roanoke tallied one more with 16 seconds left in the quarter after Will Pilat scored on an assist from Kevin Jackson.
 
Miles Muncie scored the first goal of the fourth quarter for Randolph-Macon, bringing the team within five, 13-8.  Will Pilat scored the next two goals, unassisted, for the Maroons, extending the advantage back to seven goals, 15-8.  Muncie scored once more at 5:51, but Roanoke's Danny Serafin capped the last goal with 2:30 left on the clock, as Roanoke picked up the 16-9 win over the Yellow Jackets.
 
Roanoke's Kevin Jackson led the Maroons with seven points, with five goals and two assists.  Colin Mackenzie finished with five points of his own, combining three goals and two assists off of six shots.  Will Pilat also put up three goals for the afternoon.  Max Kraus led the Maroons in ground balls with 11, coming off of his face-off work, winning 16 of his 18 face-off attempts.  Conn Curry finished with three of the team's nine forced turnovers, leading the squad in the category.  Dylan Torrey played the complete game in the goal, tallying 11 saves.
 
Randolph-Macon was led by Miles Muncie who finished with four of the team's nine goals.  Coleman Adams and Nick Benhoff tied for a team high in assists, tallying two apiece.  Benhoff also led the team in ground balls, finishing with five, while Matt DeBiasse finished with four.  DeBiasse also forced a team-high three turnovers.  Brian Davies played the complete game in net, tallying 13 saves on 29 shots faced.
 
The Maroons led in the ground ball category, picking up 36 to Randolph-Macon's 23.  Randolph-Macon had 22 turnovers, while the Maroons gave up 19.  Roanoke also won 20 of 27 face-offs.  The Maroons put up 41 shots to the Yellow Jackets' 27.
 
The Maroons return to action on Wednesday, March 18th as they play host to Colorado College.  That contest is scheduled for a 4:00 PM start.
