The Lead: No. 10 Roanoke College erupted for 10 second-half goals en route to a 12-7 road win at previously unbeaten Colorado College on Sunday afternoon.

How it Happened
  • The Maroons got first-half goals from Kevin Jackson and Brendan Devane but found themselves down 4-2 at the intermission in large part to the efforts of Tigers' goalie Chase Murphy who had 14 first-half saves, including 11 in the first quarter.
  • RC cut its deficit to 4-3 when Joey Dishaw scored at the 14:03 mark of the third quarter.
  • After a Chris Brower man-up goal made it 5-3 Colorado College with 11:09 to play in the third, RC got back-to-back goals from Dishaw and Tyler McWilliams to make it 5-5 with just over eight minutes to go in the quarter.
  • Robert Stern put the Tigers up 6-5 at the  only to see Will Pilat score 55 seconds later and spark what would prove to be a five unanswered goals from the Maroons, McWilliams closing out the third quarter scoring with a strike at the 2:23 mark.
  • A Devane man-up goal with 13:56 to play in the game was the first of three RC goals in a 53 second span with a Kevin Jackson goal making 10-6 with 13:03 to play.
  • Colorado College cut it to 10-7 with under 10 minutes to go, but that would be as close as it would get as Devane and Dishaw each scored down the stretch to seal the game for RC.
  • Ian Davies played the final 30minutes in the cage for RC, making 10 saves, while Burke McManus made six first-half stops for RC. Murphy finished with 22 saves on the day for the Tigers.
  • Roanoke outshot Colorado College 46-37 and won the groundball battle 39-30. Reid Kaminski and Max Kraus had seven and six groundball, respectively in the win and the duo combined to win 18-of-20 face-offs (9-of-10 each) on the day, helping RC go 19-of-23 on the day total.
Up Next: Roanoke will take on Wittenberg Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. MTC. The Tigers are 1-1 on the season.
