The Lead: Burke McManus had a career-high 13 saves as No. 19 Roanoke earned a 9-8 ODAC Men's Lacrosse win at Hamdpen-Sydney on Saturday afternoon.

How it Happened:
  • After Hamdpen-Sydney scored the first goal of the game at the 8:07 mark of the first quarter, RC came right back and got back-to-back goals by Cameron Linsley in a six second span to take a 2-1 lead.
  • Linsley made it 3-1 with 3:45 left in the first quarter Brendan Devane made it 4-1 just 21 seconds later.
  • With the score 4-2 RC, Will Pilat made it 5-2 with just three minutes to play in the opening frame and IV Stucker got the second quarter scoring going 1:15 in, making it 6-2.
  • H-SC would score the final two goals of the half to send the teams to the locker room with Roanoke up 6-4 and the Tigers made it 6-5 just two minutes into the second-half.
  • RC responded with a man-up goal at the 11:44 mark by Pilat then another Pilat tally with seven minutes to go in the third quarter made it 8-5.
  • Kevin Jackson made it 9-6 Maroons with 9:14 to play in the game and the game stayed that way until H-SC scored with 1:21 and five seconds left on the clock.
  • H-SC out shot RC 42-33 and held a slim 28-25 edge in ground balls. Roanoke converted 16-of-21 clear attempts while H-SC was just 17-of-25.
  • Linsley finished the day with three goals and an assist for four points, while Pilat finished with three goals. Stucker also had a goal and an assist for two points.
  • McManus finished with 13 saves, including six in the second-half. Robbby Moore had four ground balls to lead RC.
