RC Notches Eighth Straight 10 Win Season With 21-5 Victory at Shenandoah

The Lead: The Roanoke College Men's Lacrosse team extended its school record to eight consecutive years with at least 10 wins with a 21-5 victory over Shenandoah on Wednesday evening.

How it Happened
  • Roanoke led 2-1 after the first quarter following goals by Joey Dishaw and IV Stucker.
  • The Maroons opened the second stanza with three goals in less than five minutes. Kevin Jackson got the first goal 25 seconds in before back-to-back goals by Tyler McWilliams made it 5-1 with 10:26 to go in the half.
  • After a SU man-up goal made it 5-2, RC reeled off seven unanswered goals in the final seven minutes of the half to take a 12-2 lead to the locker room. During that run McWilliams had a pair of goals, while Stucker had two, the second of which with just one second left in the half.
  • McWilliams came out and scored a pair of goals, the second of which was a man-up strike set up by Jackson to make the score 14-2 with 8:42 to go in the third quarter.
  • Shenandoah's Ryan Schott scored three goal to close the quarter, including two in the final 17 seconds to make it 14-5 after three quarters.
  • Stucker scored to start the fourth quarter and Will Pilat added back-to-back goals to make it 17-5 with just over 10 minutes to play.  
  • McWilliams led RC with a season-high six goals and two assists for eight points. Stucker finished with four goals and Pilat had three goals and three assists. Dishaw finished with a goal, three assists and three groundballs, while Jackson scored once and dished out three assists.
  • Burke McManus finished with 14 saves in net for RC, marking the third straight game he has had at least 13 stops.
  • Roanoke outshot Shenandoah 54-33 and held a 41-18 edge in groundballs, led individually by Reid Kaminski with five and Conn Curry with four.
  • RC won 19-of-28 face-offs led by Kaminski who won 10-of-13 and Max Kraus who won 5-of-10.
