The Lead: Five Maroons had two or more goals as No. 11 Roanoke topped ODAC foe Guilford 14-10 Saturday afternoon in ODAC Men's Lacrosse action.

How it Happened
  • RC's Reid Kaminski won the opening face-off and marched straight to the goal scoring 15 seconds in to make it 1-0.
  • Kaminski's strike proved to be the first of three Maroon goals in the first 2:28 as Will Pilat scored at the 12:52 mark and Tyler McWilliams set up Colin Mackenzie for a goal 20 seconds later to make it 3-0.
  • The Maroons looked to pad their lead, but Guilford goalie Parker Styles made eight of his 18 saves in the first quarter of play.
  • Styles' play allowed GC to rally as the Quakers scored the next three goals, tying the game at 3-3 on a Joe Eggleston strike just under three minutes into the second quarter.
  • With the score tied at 4-4, RC rattled off three goals in a 1:42 span, taking a 7-4 lead following a Pilat man-up goal and an IV Stucker man-up tally 21 seconds apart.
  • GC made it 7-5 but Robby Moore would find Mackenzie in transition and Mackenzie was able to beat Styles just as the halftime horn sounded.
  • Guilford cut it to 8-6 at the 12:52 mark of the third quarter and Roanoke would get two goals from Stucker and one from McWilliams en route to an 11-7 lead after three.
  • A Daniel Hughey goal to open the fourth quarter cut the RC lead to 11-8 but Matthew Linter and Cameron Linsley each scored to make it 13-8 with 5:34 to play and seal the game.
  • RC outshot GC 55-33, while GC held a slim 33-32 edge in ground balls. The Roanoke defense held GC's man-up to 0-for-5 on the day, while RC's man-up was 3-of-7 on the afternoon.
  • Stucker scored three goals, while Mackenzie, McWilliams, Pilat and Linsley each scored twice. McWilliams also dished out two assists for a team-best four points in the win.
  • Guilford's Adam Fiore finished with three goals and an assist for four points, while Ian Wiesenberg had three helpers in the loss.
Up Next: Roanoke will be off until next Friday when it travels to No. 2 Salisbury for a 4:00 p.m. game.
