How it Happened
  • Roanoke was led by IV Stucker who had four goals, while Tyler McWilliams had three. Colin Mackenzie had two goals while Joey Dishaw, Will Pilat, Robert Schaufler, Cameron Linsley and Steven Jackson each had one.
  • Ian Davies played the final 39 minutes in net and made 12 saves to aid the Maroons in their rally attempt.
  • Lynchburg was led by Austin Stewart who had four goals and an assist for five points. Evan Lombardo had three goals as well for LC. The Hornets won 22-of-33 face-offs led by Bobby Distler who had 19 wins on the day.
  • LC took a 1-0 lead before Roanoke got goals from Stucker, Linsley and McWilliams to go up 3-1 with 10:48 left in the first quarter.
  • A Stewart strike with just over nine minutes left sparked a 7-1 run to close the opening frame and give an 8-4 advantage in Lynchburg's favor after one quarter.
  • With LC up 13-6, Schaufler scored with 4:28 to play in the half and it proved to be the first of three unanswered goals to send the teams to the intermission with LC up 13-9.
  • RC came out in the second-half and received goals from Jackson, McWilliams and Stucker to make it a 13-12 game with just under five minutes to go in the third quarter.
  • Back-to-back goals by Stewart and Lombardo put LC back up 15-12 with 11:50 to play in the game.
  • A pair of Stucker goals made the score 15-14 with just under five minutes to go, but that would be as close as RC would get as Chris Cornelius tallied a goal with 1:19 left to ice the game.
