The Lead: Roanoke used a 7-1 run over a 25 minutes span between the second and third quarter to secure a 11-7 ODAC win over Randolph on Wednesday night.
How it Happened
- Randolph jumped out to a 2-0 lead with goals in the first six minutes of the game.
- The Maroons were able to answer back and end the scoring drought when Kevin Jackson scored an unassisted goal at 7:08 of the first quarter.
- Before the end of the first quarter, the WildCats were able score another goal to give them a 3-1 going into the second quarter.
- Goals by Will Pilat and Cameron Linsley allowed the Maroons to pull within one goal with 10:03 left in the second.
- Brendan Devane was then able to tie it up with 7:44 left in the second quarter to make the score 4-4.
- Goals by Roanoke's Tyler McWilliams, assisted by Devane, and Randolph's Andrew Gleitz sent the teams to the intermission with the score 5-5.
- The Maroons saw an offensive spark in the third quarter with goals by McWilliams, IV Stucker, and Chad Fisher to put Roanoke at a four goal lead (9-5) to end the third quarter.
- The WildCats answered back with a goal to bring them within three with 11:45 left in the fourth quarter, but Joey Dishaw responded with a goal nine seconds later to put the lead back at four at 10-6.
- Matthew Lintner assisted Jackson for a goal at 6:40 to top off the scoring for the Maroons
- Roanoke outshot Randolph 55-24, but was only able to put 29 of those shots on the cage and the WildCats were aided by 18 saves from Cam Davis.
- RC dominated the faceoff with Max Kraus winning 9 – of – 13 on the night.
- Freshmen goalkeeper Burke McManus played all 60 minutes between the pipes making nine saves.
