The Lead: The Roanoke men's lacrosse team jumped out to a 12-0 lead to start the contest en route to a 29-2 win over the visiting Ferrum Panthers on Wednesday evening at Kerr Stadium.

How it Happened/Highlights:

  • It was a quick start for the Maroons who took a 4-0 lead in less than four minutes with both Julian Kammerman and Wyatt Whitlow each scoring two goals. However, the run did not stop there with Roanoke scoring the first 12 goals of the game before the Panthers got an unassisted goal with 57 seconds left in the first quarter. A last-second goal by Quinn Evans put the Maroons ahead 13-1 after just one period.
  • Eight more goals by Roanoke to start the second, including a man-up goal by Whitlow, saw the lead expand even further. Tommy Jackson scored his second goal of the game for Ferrum with 5:44 left before halftime.
  • Things slowed down in the second half with Roanoke adding seven goals over the final 30 minutes, capped by a Dell Vidunas goal, that provided the final 29-2 win.
  • Whitlow finished with seven goals and four ground balls to lead Roanoke while J. Kammerman had three goals, four assists, and a pair of ground balls.
  • Five different Maroons recorded a hat trick in the win.
  • Alex Feuer improved to 7-2 with the win in the cage.
