Fall Sports Wrap-Up

Men's Soccer - 14-4-2, 8-1-1 ODAC
The men's soccer team fell, 1-0 to Virginia Wesleyan in the ODAC Championship to finish 14-4-2 on the season. They won the regular season ODAC Title with an 8-1-1 mark, falling only to Randolph-Macon and tying regionally-ranked Lynchburg. The Maroons avenged their only conference loss to the Yellow Jackets, 4-0 in the ODAC Quarterfinals. They were nationally-ranked all season in shutout percentage and goals against average. Head Coach Scott Allison is one win away from his 260th of his career. He is second among active ODAC Coaches in wins and in the top-50 all-time in Div. III in career wins.
Women's Soccer - 11-7-2, 8-2-1 ODAC
The women's soccer team fell, 1-0 to #10 Virginia Wesleyan in the ODAC Semifinals to finish 11-7-2 on the season. They finished fourth in the highly competitive ODAC with an 8-2-1 mark, falling to the nationally-ranked Marlins and Washington & Lee. They tied then #2 Lynchburg, 1-1 earlier in the season, which started their second-half surge by winning the last six matches of the season before the ODAC Semifinal. Meredith Grunewald finished the year breaking the school's single-season scoring mark and ranked nationally in scoring and assists per game. Head Coach Phil Benne has 228 wins under his belt after 20 seasons which is second among active ODAC Coaches. He is among the top-25 all-time in Div. III in career wins.
Field Hockey - 3-14, 2-5 ODAC
The field hockey team took on a difficult schedule during a rebuilding year with eight seniors departed to finish 3-14 on the season. The Maroons had a 2-5 record in conference play, defeating Sweet Briar and Bridgewater. Their 8-0 victory over Shenandoah was the most goals scored in the series against the Hornets and the most goals since 2004 for the Maroons. Cristina Schicilone was ranked most of the season in save percentage while senior Emily Horner was named second-team All-ODAC. Junior Mariah Vietri and freshman Lee Sheldon garnered honorable mention All-ODAC honors.
Volleyball - 24-4, 7-3 ODAC
The volleyball team enjoyed a record-setting season as they finished 24-4, 7-3 in the ODAC. The record along with 24 wins and the 10-0 start were all record-breakers. The 11-match win streak was the second-longest in shool-history and Caitlyn Long broke the career digs record with 1245 for her career, which is inside the top-15 in ODAC history. Long, who was MVP of the season-opening Cougar Classic, also garnered honorable mention All-ODAC honors. Kelsey Largen and Maggie Wagner were named second-team All-ODAC as they were fourth and fifth, respectively among ODAC leaders in kills per game. Head Coach Blair Trail has 188 career wins and is second among active ODAC Coaches. She has all four 20-win seasons and back-to-back 20-win seasons for the second time ever at Roanoke.
Cross Country
Men
The men's team has been solid this year finishing in the top five in five of seven meets. Placed 2nd at the ODAC, with Ian Robinson earning 2nd team ODAC honors. Dana Mueller also placed in the top 20 (19th). They have been led by two star athletes: Alex Knutsen and Ian Robinson.
Women
The Women have also run well this year. They have finished in the top five in five of seven meets and won the Maroon's Invitational. They placed 2nd at the ODAC championships on Nov. 1. Liz Mumaw earned 1st team All ODAC and Erin Gollery and Maggie Moore earned 2nd team.
