White Scores Twice in 3-0 Victory over Eastern Mennonite
SALEM --- Sophomore Brian White (Virginia Beach, VA, First Colonial) scored two second half goals to lead #25 Roanoke to a 3-0 win over Eastern Mennonite in ODAC action Friday night.

Roanoke (8-2-1, 4-0-1 ODAC) remains atop the ODAC Standings winning its fourth-straight contest. The Maroons, who are 38-14-5 against the Royals (5-6-1, 3-1 ODAC), have won four of the last five meetings in the series.

AJ Tierce (Vorrhees, NJ, Eastern) got the scoring underway in the 16th minute of play in the first half, scoring off a rebound after a header from a corner kick from Andrew Howe (Mechanicsburg, PA, Cumberland Valley) to grab the early lead.

The second half was all Mr. White as he and Patrick Bain (New Market, VA, Stonewall Jackson) connected on two second half goals to put the game away. Just over two minutes elapsed in the second stanza, Bain's pass put White in a breakaway situation in which he converted to give the Maroons a two-goal advantage.

The third and final goal of the contest came in the 63rd minute, as Bain advanced the ball past two defenders and found an open White again to put him in a 1-v-1 with the EMU goalkeeper. He shot got off just in time to be out of the goalie's reach as the ball sailed into the left side to put the game away.

Roanoke outshot EMU, 15-6, including 9-3 in shots on goal. The Maroons also held a 7-2 advantage in corner kicks. Avery Makel (Nellysford, VA, Nelson County) and Casey Shotts (Virginia Beach, VA, Princess Anne) had a save each, while Patrick Fox collected four saves in goal for the Royals. Andrew Yoder added a save for EMU.

The men will host North Carolina Wesleyan in non-conference action on Tuesday, Oct. 4. The match is scheduled for 5 p.m. at Kerr Stadium.
