Six Maroons Earn All-ODAC Men's Soccer Honors
FOREST - Six Men's Soccer players were named to the 2011 ODAC All-Conference Team announced Thursday. Sophomores Brian White and Patrick Bain, junior Chris Conover, and senior Drew Claytor were named to the First Team. Senior Avery Makel and junior AJ Tierce earned Third Team Honors.

Claytor ranked third on the team in total points, as he scored three goals and dished out five assists. Claytor also led the team in shots with 30. Claytor was named ODAC Player of the Week for the week of Oct. 17th, where he scored one goal and had an assist. He earned the game winning goal against Guilford on October 12th and turned around and assisted in two goals the very next game.

White led the Maroons in scoring after netting eight goals this season. That total also ranked him fourth in the ODAC in goals scored. White was also named ODAC Player of the Week for the week of October 3rd, where he scored three goals in the week including a game winner over Averett.

Bain earned First Team honors after leading a very strong Roanoke midfield as a sophomore. Bain finished the 2011 season with three assists, including two in a 3-0 victory over Eastern Mennonite on September 30th.

Chris Conover was a very important part of the Maroon team both on offense and defense, as he scored two goals and tallied two assists in 2011. The Dagsboro, Delaware native scored goals in two consecutive games against Kean and Stevens tech, and assisted in a game-winning goal against Guilford on October 12th.

Makel found himself in front of the net of the Maroon's goal for ever contest this season. He ranked third in the ODAC in shutouts, doling out five over the course of 2011. Makel also tied his career high of seven saves in a game against Hampden-Sydney on October 25th.

Tierce finished the season with three goals, and tied for second in shots taken with 27. Every goal that Tierce scored in 2011 was a game winner, with victories over Emory & Henry, Eastern Mennonite, and Methodist.

The Maroons finished the season with a record of 12-5-1 and were 7-2-1 in conference play. They fell in the quarterfinal round of the ODAC Tournament to Virginia Wesleyan 2-0.
