How it Happened
- The Maroons dominated possession, ripping off 41 shots on the night which ranks second most in a single match in the program's history. The 1999 squad got off 43 shots in a 4-1 victory against E&H.
- The Maroons got the lone goal of the first-half when E&H got called for a foul inside the box and Tim Mahabir converted a penalty kick chance to make it 1-0.
- E&H got the equalizer just 58 seconds into the second stanza when Tyequis Stallins got behind the RC defense and was able to chip a shot over RC keeper Cole Sinclair.
- The Wasps struck again in the 58th minute when Colin Foley scored on a one-timer to make it 2-1.
- The Maroons regained the momentum and peppered E&H keeper Didier Grillet with shots, finally cashing in at the 68:24 mark when Orestis Ilias beat his man to the end line and slid a pass to Lentine for a one-timer past Grillet.
- RC had several chances to move ahead in regulation, including a Fortune Sibanda laser in the 79th minute that Grillet was able to get a hand on and push over the cross-bar and a chance by Cole Thornton that was denied by Grillet with a diving save with 22 seconds remaining.
- Roanoke continued its offensive pressure from the outset of the overtime, outshooting Emory & Henry 6-0 in the first 10 minute extra frame. Ilias had the best chance to win the game but his shot was turned away by a diving Grillet in the 96th minute.
- RC had opportunities to score in the second overtime period before Ilias again found Lentine on a pass across the 18 yard box which Lentine rifled past Grillet for the game-winner.
- Roanoke finished with a 41-11 advantage in shots, including a 11-0 edge in the extra sessions. Grillet made 15 saves for the match, including 13 in the second-half and overtime. Sinclair made four stops for RC.
