Behe and Carman named All State

On Wednesday afternoon, the Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) announced their All-State Men's Soccer teams. Roanoke College goalkeeper Zach Behe and defender Joe Carman were named to the All State teams for their play in the 2021 season.

Behe was named to an At-Large spot on the 1st team after a season that would see the senior post 57 saves and a goals against average of .53 while being named to the All Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) 2nd team. The High Point (N.C.) native started all 18 matches and was responsible for eight shutouts while combing for a ninth. Back in early December, Behe was named an Academic All-America by the College Sports Information Directors (CoSIDA), a prestigious honor that was bestowed upon just 35 players nationwide.

Carman was named to the VaSID All State 2nd team after making the 1st team as well as being named the Sate Defensive Player of the Year for the 2020 season. The senior from Blacksburg was once again a 1st team All ODAC selection, his second straight 1st team honor, after he helped anchor a Roanoke defense that led the conference by giving up just 10 goals and an ODAC best .52 goals per game. Carman added one goal and one assist on the offensive end of the field. The United Soccer Coaches named Carman a 1st team All Region Selection for his stellar play in 2021.
