Maroons Score Twice in Second Half to Down Greensboro, 2-1

The Short Story: The Roanoke College men's soccer team scored two goals in the second half to come from behind and down the Greensboro College Pride on Wednesday evening on the road.


  • Despite being outshot in the first half, 9-7, the Pride were the first to find the back of the net in the first half off a header at 17:55.
  • Harrison Kraus would take a pass from Dylan Berk just 4:22 into the second half inside the box and scored the equalizing goal to tie the score up at 1-1.
  • The Maroons then scored the game-winning goal a man down when Girom Affolter scored unassisted at 67:18 to put Roanoke up 2-1. The defense then held on for road victory for the Maroons.


  • The Maroons controlled the ball on the offensive side of the field in the first half by taking six corner kicks to just one for Greensboro.
  • Both teams fired four shots in the second half with Roanoke having the 13-11 lead in total shots.
  • Zach Behe improved to 2-1-1 on the season with the win. He played all 90 minutes in goal making five saves.


  • Roanoke will return home on Saturday, September 17 when it takes on the University of Mary Washington. Game time with the Eagles is scheduled for 4 p.m. at Donald J. Kerr Stadium.
