Ferrum, VA--- Roanoke men's tennis beat the Panthers of Ferrum in decisive fashion 9-0 on Tuesday afternoon. With the victory the Maroons moved to 3-1 on the season while the Panthers dropped to 0-2.
Roanoke's #1 singles player, Jon Roy (Greensboro, NC, Grimsley), up-ended Christopher Miller in a hard fought battle 6-3, 6-4 which proved to be the only difficult win for the Maroons in singles action. In doubles play Roy and Sam Sherrill (Southborough, MA, St. Mark's)teamed up to defeat Ferrum's #1 doubles pairing 8-5. Alex Lyons (Topsfield, MA, St. Johns Prep)and Matt Nadolny (Fairfield, CT, Fairfield Ludlowe)secured a victory for Roanoke in #2 doubles while James Lee (Radnor, PA, Radnor)and Minot Amory (Palm Beach, FL, Canterbury)handled Ferrum's Darren Agee and Bob Dill to complete the perfect afternoon for the Maroons.
Next up for the Maroons is a road match to battle the Generals of Washington & Lee. Match slated to start at 3:30 pm on March 11th.
