Salem, Va. --- Roanoke Men's tennis fell earlier this week in non-conference play to CNU 8-1. With the loss the Maroons dropped to 6-5 on the season while CNU improved their record to 9-8.
Roanoke's Sam Sherrill (Southborough, MA, St. Mark's) battled hard in the #2 singles spot as he fell to Christopher Newport's Gianandrea Heyer 6-3, 6-4, while James Lee (Radnor, PA, Radnor) fought in a tough 6-2, 6-3 loss. Sherrill would get his chance though in doubles action as he and Jon Roy (Greensboro, NC, Grimsley) paired up to take down Heyer and Eric Shulman 8-2 in the #1 slot. The tandem of Sherrill and Roy are now 8-1 in doubles while currently riding a six game win streak.
Next up for the men is a match-up with Bridgewater College on April 8th. Match scheduled to start at 3pm.
