Men's Tennis Falls to Averett, 9-0

SALEM, Va. --- The Roanoke College men's tennis leam lost its first match of the season to Averett, 9-0 on Wednesday afternoon. The Maroons fell to 0-1 on the young season.

Averett swept Roanoke in both doubles and the singles matches. Number one doubles partners Jon Roy and Sam Sherrill as well as number three Pete DeWitt and Drew Rogers both lost 8-5.

In the number one singles spot, Roy took nationally-ranked opponent Juusu Tapanainen to three sets (6-1, 4-6, 10-1) in his defeat. Sherrill lost to Dean Loock 6-3, 6-4.
The men will host Washington & Lee on Mar. 10 for their conference opener. Match time is set for 3:00 p.m.
