EMORY, Va. --- The Roanoke College men's tennis team earned its first win of the season on Wednesday afternoon against Emory & Henry. The men defeated the Wasps 8-1. The Maroons improved to 1-3 overall and 1-1 in the ODAC while the Wasps fell to 3-6, 0-2.

The Maroons swept all three doubles matches and won five of six singles matches.

Sam Sherrill and Jon Roy defeated their opponent 8-3 while the number two spot of Sam Jordan and Pete DeWitt won 8-1. Matt Delaney and Alex Lyons won 8-6 in the number three spot.

In singles competition, number one seeded Roy and number four seeded DeWitt both won 6-1, 6-2. Sherrill defeated his opponent in three sets, 6-3, 3-6, 12-10. Jordan and Lyons each earned a point for the Maroons in their first singles victory of the season.

The men travel to will host North Carolina Wesleyan on Mar. 22. Match time is set for 11:00 a.m.
