Men's Tennis splits pair of ODAC Contests
SALEM, Va. --- Roanoke men's tennis split two ODAC contests in a span of three days, defeating Guilford, 8-1 on Wednesday but fell to Bridgewater, 5-4 in a tight match at the Roanoke Campus Courts Friday afternoon. The Maroons are now 7-7, 6-3 in the ODAC.
Against the Quakers, Jon Roy won his third-straight match and fifth of the last six outings in #1 singles. He had to come from behind to win the match in three sets, 2-6, 6-4, 10-5.
Drew Rogers defeated both Guilford and Bridgewater to win his fifth-straight #3 doubles match of the season. Alex Lyons has teamed up with Rogers in four of those wins as he has won five-straight matches in singles. Two of those wins came as a #5 seed while the others came in the #6 slot.
Pete DeWitt's five-match singles win-streak came to a halt as he fell against Bridgewater, 2-6, 2-6. He won those matches playing in a different slot. He has five losses when he plays in #5 singles.
The men are finished for the regular season and will await their opponent in the ODAC Tournament held next weekend starting April 24.
