Men's Tennis defeats Virginia Wesleyan, 9-0

SALEM, Va. --- The men's tennis team defeated Virginia Wesleyan, 9-0 in ODAC Action on Sunday afternoon. The win improved the Maroons to 2-4 overall, 2-1 in the ODAC. The Marlins dropped to 0-10, 0-5 in ODAC play.
Sam Sherrill defeated Steven Wright, 6-2, 6-2 to win the #1 singles. Sherrill is now 2-0 in the top-spot this season. In #2 singles, Drew Rodgers beat Lee Cebula, 6-3, 6-2 as he moved up to the second seeded match for the first time this spring.
Sam Jordan defeated Sal Saranti, 6-1, 6-0 in his first #3 singles match of the season while Pete DeWitt won the #4 singles, 6-2, 6-2. Minot Amory and Weston Hatfield won their matches, 8-1.
The Maroons swept the doubles matches, with Sherrill/Jordan winning #1 doubles, 8-4. It was the first time the two have played together this season. In #2 doubles, Rodgers and DeWitt won, 8-3 for their first win as a duo this season.
Alex Madsen and Harlan Strader won, 8-3 in #3 doubles in their first match of the season.
The men will travel south to play against Ferrum in non-conference action Wednesday, April 1.
