Roanoke Men's Tennis Takes Down Guilford 6-3
SALEM, Va.--- The Roanoke men's tennis team faced off against fellow Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) squad Guilford College Tuesday afternoon. The Maroons claimed a 6-3 win against the Quakers (GC), closing the regular season with a 6-5 overall record, 6-3 in the ODAC. Guilford fell 7-8 on the season, 4-4 in conference play.

In singles action, Tyler Mercier gave the Quakers a positive start, defeating Jon Roy (Greensboro, NC, Grimsley), 4-6, 6-2, 6-1 in the top slot. In #2 singles, James Lee (Radnor, PA, Radnor) redeemed Roy's loss, with a 6-7, 7-5, 6-4, match win over Clayton Hamilton. Alex Lyons (Topsfield, MA, St. Johns Prep), #3 in singles, added to the Maroons success, knocking off Guilford's Charlie Smith, 6-0, 6-2.

In #4 singles,
Charlie Graves (South Hamilton, MA, Hamilton Wenham Regional) proved victorious in his win over Mark Cheong, 6-2, 7-5, while Greg Migliarese (Roanoke, VA, Hidden Valley) (#6 singles) won his fourth-straight match with a solid 6-1, 6-1 defeat over Brandon Johnson.

In doubles competition, the #1 slot, Roy and Lee, matched up against Guilford's Clayton Hamilton and Tyler Mercier, claiming an 8-5 win. The #2 duo of Greg Migliarese (Roanoke, VA, Hidden Valley) and Lyons slipped past Cheong and Smith, 8-6.

The Maroons will be back in action on April 16th, as they enter into the ODAC Quarterfinals against Emory & Henry. The match time is TBA.
