The Roanoke Maroons slid past Virginia Wesleyan on Wednesday, 5-4, in a match played in Lexington, VA. The Maroons improve to 4-9, while reaching the .500 mark in the ODAC at 3-3. The loss drops Virginia Wesleyan to 8-8, 1-6 in the ODAC. The win marks Roanoke's first winning streak of the season, as they have been victorious in their last two matches.

The two teams split the singles competition, with the Maroons capturing the number one, five and six matchups. James Lee (Radnor, PA, Radnor) was victorious in the top spot, improving to 4-8 on the season, going the distance with a 6-4, 3-6, 7-5 win. In the number six spot, Chris Migliarese (Roanoke, VA, Hidden Valley) earned a 6-1, 6-4 win, while Ian Webster (Fredricksburg, VA, James Monroe) defeated Griffen Graves, 7-5, 6-3, in number seven singles.

With a split in the number one and number two doubles, the third pairing helped lead Roanoke to the win. Lewis Young (Salisbury, NC, Salisbury High School) and Webster combined for to down Steven Bond and Graves, needing a tiebreaker in route to their 9-7 win.

The team will travel to Ashland on Saturday to face Randolph-Macon. Start time is scheduled for 11:00 AM.
