Roanoke Men's Tennis Wins Ferrum Fall Tournament
FERRUM - The Roanoke College men's tennis team won the Ferrum Fall tournament over the weekend. The Maroons played in seven of the nine draws and won five of the seven draws that they played in.

Joey Ross defeated Randolph's Daniil Lyalko (6-2, 1-6, 10-5) in the semi-finals of the Flight A draw. Matt Kessler won his match (3-6, 7-6(4), 10-5), also in the Flight A draw. Because both players in the Flight A finals were Roanoke players, they chose not to play against one another.

James Lee won the Flight B draw after defeating Randolph's Teague Nelson (6-2, 6-1) and Tadael Asfaha (6-2, 6-1) in the semis and finals, respectively. Lewis Young won the Flight C draw after beating Ferrum's Connor Moncure (6-1, 1-6, 10-4) and Taylor Napier (6-3, 6-0).

Jacob Morris placed second in the Flight D draw after defeating Ferrum's Jacob Bivans by the score of 8-2. Nick Parker also won the consolation match in the Flight E draw, beating Ferrum's William Sharp, 8-0.

In doubles play, Joey Ross and Matt Kessler advanced to the finals of the A draw, but did not get to complete the finals due to inclimate weather. In the Flight B draw, the teams of Lee/Young and Parker/Morris advanced to the finals, where they chose not to play against each other, allowing Roanoke to claim points for first and second without a match.
