Men's Tennis Tied For Fifth in 2015 ODAC Preseason Poll
FOREST, Va. --- Washington and Lee University, winners of the last five conference titles, headline the 2015 ODAC Men's Tennis Preseason Poll.  The Generals earned 100 total points, including 10 first place votes from the league's head coaches.  Virginia Wesleyan Collegesits second with 87 tallies, while Bridgewater College holds down third with 77 points and the remaining top nod.

The Maroons went 2-0 to start the 2014 season and closed out the regular season winning four of their last six matches.  The final push of the regular season gave Roanoke the #7 seed in the ODAC Tournament.  Roanoke fell in the ODAC Quarterfinals to Virginia Wesleyan College.  The Maroons look to go on their third straight winning season and eye a higher seed in the ODAC Tournament in 2015.

The Maroons return four players from the 2014 team with Matt Kessler, Jacob Morris, Joseph Ross and Chris Teeple.  Joseph Ross was the #1 player for the Maroons last year, putting together a record of 10-5 in singles play.  He was also able to put together a mark of 6-4 in ODAC singles matches.  Ross finished the year with a record of 6-2 in his final eight matches.  Matt Kessler played #2 singles for the Maroons and finished the year with a record of 6-8.  As the #2 player, he picked up wins over Lynchburg and Shenandoah in ODAC play.  He also finished the season 6-9 in doubles action, splitting partnership between Joseph Ross and Chris Migliarese. 

Jacob Morris played predominantly #3 singles for Roanoke, holding a 5-7 record in that position.  He also played three matches at #4, where he was 2-1 on the season.  Morris came on strong in the end of the season, winning four of his last seven, including matches against Lynchburg, Emory & Henry and Shenandoah.  He was also strong in doubles play, where he held a 10-5 record in 2014.  He split time playing with Migliarese, Ross and Lewis Young.  Morris and Migliarese won their #2 doubles match in the ODAC Tournament First Round match against Virginia Wesleyan.  Chris Teeple played #5 and #6 singles for the Maroons and had a record of 3-4 for the year.  HE was 2-0 at the #5 singles position.  Teeple won singles matches against St. John Fischer, Emory & Henry and Shenandoah.

The Maroons open the season on February 15th as they travel to the Greenbrier to play a match against Bluefield College, West Virginia Wesleyan and Liberty.  Those matches will begin at 9:00 AM.  Roanoke returns from the Greenbrier to go straight into an ODAC contest, playing Bridgewater at home on February 28th, who is ranked #18 in the ITA Atlantic South Preseason Poll.   

Roanoke will then travel to Hilton Head, SC to play in six matches over the Spring Break week of March 1st-7th.  During that span, Roanoke will take on Mount Union, St. John Fisher, Elizabethtown, Penn State-Harrisburg, Wilkes and Wartburg.  Once the Maroons return from sunny South Carolina, they will be engrossed in ODAC play for the remainder of the season.  Roanoke will play away matches on March 14th and 19th, taking on Hampden-Sydney and Lynchburg, respectively.

 The Maroons will then have two back to back home matches on March 21st and 22nd, taking on Shenandoah and Guilford.  Over March 26-27 the Maroons will face off against Virginia Wesleyan who is ranked #17 in the ITA Atlantic South Region preseason poll.  Roanoke will play one other team who is ranked regionally (and nationally) in Washington & Lee.  The Maroons will take on the Generals on April 4th at the Elizabeth Campus Courts.  W&L is ranked #5 in the South Atlantic Region and #34 in the ITA National preseason poll.

Roanoke will play at Emory & Henry on April 5th at 4:00 PM.  The Maroons will close the regular season with a home match against Randolph-Macon on April 18th at 1:00 PM.
