The Lead: The Roanoke went back on the road for a Sunday afternoon match with Shenandoah. The Maroons took a 2-1 edge after the doubles matches. The Hornets would tie the match by taking the #1 singles spot to set up a best of five for the match. Roanoke would win three of the final five singles matches to pick up the win in the old Dominion Athletic conference (ODAC) standings.

Highlights:

  • Zach Kriebel and Thomas Hodges won at the #2 doubles spot by a final of 8-1. When Dalton Capobianco and Lance Beheler finished their match at the #3 spot, 8-4, the Maroons had built a 2-1 advantage.
  • With the match tied at 2-2, Capobianco won at the #3 position, 6-3 and 6-4, to once again put Roanoke in front for the race to five points.
  • Michael Morrell got RC even closer to taking the match with a 6-4 and 6-4 over Will Sides.
  • Needing one of the two matches still being played, Carter Hylton finished off Brenton Baugh, 6-3 and 6-4, to give Roanoke the needed points to secure the ODAC win, 5-4.

Up next: Roanoke will step out of conference on Friday when the men and women travel to Charlotte to face Johnson and Wales.
