The Short Story: Randolph-Macon picked up a 7-2 conference victory in a tightly contested ODAC men's tennis match in Salem.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Federico Maccari had a hand in both Roanoke points in the match. At #1 doubles, he teamed up with Zach Kriebel to defeat Holland Baynard and Xan Johnston 8-6.
  • The Yellow Jackets secured the other two doubles points. Max Hammock and Braxton Fagan downed Hardt Lesko and John-Henry Herrington 8-1 at #2, while Mitchell Herman and Max Doyle collected an 8-1 win over Julio Marques and Jackson Wagner at #3.
  • Three of the six singles matches went to a match tiebreak. At the top spot, Maccari outlasted Baynard 6-7 (2), 6-4, 10-5.
  • Randolph-Macon claimed the other two tiebreaks. Doyle defeated Marques 6-2, 5-7, 10-8 at #4 singles, and Herman edged Herrington 1-6, 6-4, 11-9 at #5.
  • The Jackets won the other three singles contests in straight sets. Hammock bested Kriebel 6-2, 6-4 at #2, Braxton knocked off Lesko 6-0, 6-2 at #3, and Max Presley dispatched Lance Beheler 6-1, 6-2 at #6.

Up Next: Roanoke will await the seedings for the ODAC Tournament, which will be announced after the regular season concludes this weekend. The top eight teams qualify for the quarterfinals, which are slated for Wednesday, April 26.
