Record Setting weekend In Lynchburg

The Basics

Event: Dr. Jack M. Toms Alumni Invitational 

Location: Lynchburg, VA

The Lead: The Roanoke College outdoor track & field team traveled to the University of Lynchburg to compete in the Dr. Jack M. Toms Alumni Invitational. Athletes from 18 different teams and unattached athletes competed in the one-day event.

Men's Highlights:

  • The Men's 4X100M Relay team broke the school record dating back to 2019. The team of Troy Crawley, Xavier O'Brien, Blake Morin, and Sam Crawford posted the top overall time of 42.24.  That time currently ranks #6 in all DIII.
  • Crawford would best the field in the Men's 400m with a blistering time of 48.33 seconds.  His time currently ranks him #1 in all DIII.
  • O'Brien finished second in the Men's 200m dash crossing the line at a time of 22.29.
  • Corbin Turner cleared a season best height in the men's pole vault with distance of 4.25 meters. 
  • In the Men's 1500m Cooper Neeble and Peter Smith would post a top 8 finish.  Neeble would cross the line sixth with a time of 4:01.16.  Smith would finish a couple of seconds behind Neeble with a time of 4:05.47 finishing eighth.
  • In the Men's Triple Jump Joseph Kenney would post a victory in the event with a distance of 13.11 meters.

Women's Highlights:

  • Alison Moreau started her day finishing second in the Women's High Jump with a clearance of 1.55 meters.  She would later on finish sixth in the Women's 100M dash with a prelim time of 12.76, then earn a second place finish in the Women's 200M dash posting a blazing time of 25.59 seconds. 
  • Emily Ball posted a personal record finishing fourth in the women's 400m dash with a time of 59.32.  That time puts her on top of the ODAC standings in the event while being the 14th best time in DIII. 
  • Abbey Gajtkowski finished fourth in the Women's Discus with personal record distance of 27.67 meters.  Behind her was Clare Kinney with distance of 26.82 meters.
  • In the Women's Pole Vault Louise Tester cleared a season best height of 3.04 meters finishing fourth in the event.
  • The Women's 4X100m relay of Moreau, Haylee Gamble,  Mikayla Hefferon, and Lily Lippert finished second in the event with a time of 49.38 seconds.  That time is currently ranked 8th in all of DIII.
