The Basics
Event: Bast Cregger Invitational
Location: Salem, VA
The Lead: The Roanoke College indoor track & field team competed for the first time in the 2021-22 season when they hosted 20 other teams to the fieldhouse in the Cregger Center for the 2021 Bast Cregger Invitational. The two-day meet took place on Friday afternoon and all-day Saturday with over 45 individual and relay events.
Men's Highlights:
- In the 500M, Samuel Crawford finished runner-up with a time of 1:07.93.
- Xavier O'Brien would post a 3rd place finish in the 60M Hurdles when he posted a finals time of 8.52.
- The 5000M would see Chamberlain Zulauf just miss a top-5 when he crossed sixth in 15:54.28.
- The final event of the meet would see the quartet of Crawford, O'Brien, Brandon Justice, and Cameron Harris posted a time of 3:37.80 to rally for a 5th place finish.
Women's Highlights:
- Chloe Van Duyne won the Pole Vault when she cleared the bar at 3.05M.
- In the High Jump, Kaitlyn Nguyen recorded a height of 1.52M to place 3rd in the event.
- Hannah Snodgrass finished the 60M Hurdles in a time of 9.24 seconds to claim fourth place points.
- The Maroons would register a pair of top five finishes in both the 800M and Shot Put. In the 800M, Hannah Koepfinger (2:32.82) would finish .04 of a second ahead of teammate Zoe Dunlap. Grace Fowler would just edge Tiera Hudson for another RC 4-5 finish.
Up Next: Roanoke will host the 2022 Finn Pincus Invitational on January 21 and 22 in Salem.
